Podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 1,967. And today we're talking about embracing, growing slowly.

A lot of times we are trying to get to where we want to go as fast as we possibly can.

And in, what is his name, Billy Oppenheimer, you've heard me talk about him before. Billy

Oppenheimer, he has a great newsletter, six at six on Sunday. In this episode or in this, this recent

edition, he talks about the secret wisdom of nature. I'm going to read this. I really like this.

While trees require

sunlight to grow, the strongest and longest living trees don't get much sunlight during their

early years. Instead, they spend their first few decades waiting patiently in their mother's shade.

Peter Wolinbin explains the secret wisdom of nature. Limited sunlight leads to slow growth.

Slow growth leads to develop development of dense, long-lasting wood. Youngsters without any shade,

on the other hand, grow fast and therefore develop wood that is airy and susceptible to fungi, yeast,

molds, and mildews.

So Wolin bin writes, a tree that grows quickly, rots quickly, and therefore never has a chance to grow old. Close quote. I love that because that relates to us as well. And our growth,

I think when we seek for speed and try to get to the top

as fast as we can, we don't learn those lessons. We don't grow the resilience. We don't develop the

skills necessary to be able to stay where we want to go. I also heard the quote recently that said,

you'll have talent that gets you in the room into rooms that character can't keep you.

And I think that's an ancillary principle as well, a connection where sometimes we just

want to get there quickly. Today, my invitation is to embrace the slow journey.
