and the story goes, a young man once asked Mozart how to write a symphony. And Mozart replied,

you're too young to write a symphony. And the young man replied, but you were

writing symphonies when you were 10. And I'm 21. And then Mozart said, yes, but I didn't run around

asking people how to do it. I really love that because it also reminds me of an excerpt from the book

Relentless by Tim Grover. Tim Grover was the performance coach for Kobe, for Michael Jordan,

and some of the best athletes in the world. And he says this, quote, why should anyone want to be

told what to do? The whole point of this book is that in order to be successful, you truly have to,

you truly have what you want in your life. you must stop waiting to be told what to do

and how to do it i can't give you a 10-step process or a checklist for accomplishing your goals

no one can what i am giving you is insight into the mentality of those who have found

unparalleled success by trusting their own instincts.

Today I was talking on the Digin Deep podcast with my buddy Hosmer, Eric Hosmer, Peter Moylin,

and we were talking with a guest. And we were talking about looking for perspective over prescriptions, not being told a five-step process on how

to be great or this cookie cutter checklist on how to get to the major leagues or the NFL

or achieve any goal. You just need to figure it out and you're going to fail on the way

and you're going to struggle on the way and you just have to learn how to say yes

to very difficult opportunities and then keep keep chipping away and shaping your path and

stumbling and fumbling and bumbling and knowing that it's going to look different for you and

for somebody else it's going to look different for you now and five years from now.

But don't wait for anyone to tell you what to do.

You don't need permission to pursue your dreams.
