| 0:09.1 | I heard a conversation between two professional athletes and they were talking about failure. |
| 0:15.5 | Now failure is part of the journey and how you respond to failure can be a competitive advantage. |
| 0:24.3 | And so this conversation went like this. |
| 0:25.5 | So, teammate one goes, how do you bounce back so quickly from failure? |
| 0:30.0 | Seems like it doesn't bother you. |
| 0:31.6 | So he's speaking to a veteran player who's a lot older. |
| 0:35.5 | And that veteran player says, it definitely bothers me, |
| 0:39.0 | but I don't let it get to me like I, like it did earlier in my career. And then the younger one |
| 0:45.4 | says how, and then he goes on to say, I asked myself two questions. Now, these two questions are |
| 0:50.4 | something that he learned a long time ago from somebody. And the two questions are this. |
| 0:55.0 | Number one, how did I contribute to this failure? |
| 0:58.0 | And he goes on to say, that question holds me accountable. |
| 1:01.0 | And the second question he asked himself is, what did I have no control over? |
| 1:06.0 | And he says, I don't need to be, and this question helps me realize that I don't need to beat up on myself over |
| 1:11.9 | things I couldn't do anything about responding effectively to failure like this player is a combination |
| 1:20.7 | of owning your mistakes and accounting for the things that were outside of your control |
| 1:26.1 | so the next time something doesn't go your way, |
| 1:29.2 | consider asking yourself these two questions. |
| 1:32.5 | How did I contribute to this failure? |
| 1:34.8 | And what did I have no control over? |
| 1:37.9 | Your answers will help you get out of your own way |
