I recently read an article by Sahil Bloom and he was talking about

having

creating luck or in other words, expanding your luck surface area and he refers to a movie called Interstellar and he talks about a scene in

particular where the protagonist the the actors in the movie are talking about this planet that is right next to

a black hole. And one of the characters says that the black hole absorbed all of the quote-unquote lucky events that might be able to spark life.

And the author goes on to say that the black hole made the luck surface area of the planet minuscule.

So he talks a little bit more. He says that I think about this a lot. It's a powerful metaphor for life. The luckiest people have a massive luck surface area.

They expose themselves to more luck than the average human. Now when I say luck for some people luck is a is an icky word.

Because it makes you think that it takes out of the equation your effort your preparation your hard work which is not what we're saying.

We're talking what I'm talking about when I say luck is are the uncontrollable factors. That's what I'm referring to when I'm reading luck here.

And he goes on to say that there are two ways to increase the size of your luck surface area or in other words to increase the odds that the ball bounces in your favor.

Increase the odds that success happens.

Number one is to remove the black holes that shrink your surface area. Cut the people in actions and things you do and don't do out of your life that are quote-unquote anti luck.

And you'll immediately expose yourself to take to more chance of positive encounters. And the number two take deliberate actions that expand your luck surface area.

It's hard to get lucky sitting around watching TV. It's hard to get lucky when you are not preparing the way you need to prepare.

It's hard to get lucky when you don't connect with people who are going to make you better.

So my question to you for today is to kick this week off or number one, what are the black holes in your life?

What are the things that are reducing success? And the number two, what are things you can do to increase luck?

Who are people you need to connect with, behaviors you need to do in order to increase the odds of success?

Because in some of your situations, the odds are very unlikely.

However, instead of fighting against yourself, you can do tiny small things every day to increase those odds ever so slightly.
