1,780. Today we're talking about embracing the power of slow growth. We've

spoken about this before that success is made in the slow cooker and not in a

microwave. I recently came across an article talking about the growth of

trees and listen to this quote, in undisturbed ancient forests, youngsters have

to spend their first 200 years waiting patiently in their mother's shade. As they

struggle to put on the few feet, they develop wood that is incredibly dense. In a

modern managed forest today, seedlings grow without any parental shade to slow

them down. These trees shoot up and form large growth rings, even without a

nutrient boost from the added nitrogen. Consequently, their woody cells are

much larger than normal and contain much more air, which makes them susceptible

to fungi. After all, fungi like to breathe too. A tree that grows quickly

rots quickly and therefore never has a chance to grow old. Close quote. I find

that incredibly to be able to compare that to human performance and to growth.

A lot of times we want things fast, we want things quick. In the example of

these trees, although these ancient trees grew much slower, they grew much

stronger. And my invitation to you is to consider the speed with which you're

growing or in challenging others to grow. It's going to be slow. It's going to

be hard. It's going to be difficult. But as you embrace this slow growth process,

remember that you're going to be stronger as a result of it. You're going to be

smarter as a result as a result of it. And your slow strength that you're

developing is going to be able to withstand and withhold the storms that lie
