And away we go, episode one thousand eighty-two of the Al-Galdi podcast. It is Wednesday, May 28th, 2025. It is the commander's

first OTA day of the 2025 offseason. It is the day after the commanders announced a signing

and a resigning. The commander's late Tuesday afternoon announced the signing of the man who they

took with the number 29 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, offensive tackle Josh Cotterley, Jr.

The team on Tuesday morning announced the resigning of unrestricted free agent, interior defensive line.

Now, Carl, Davis, our guy Carl, is back. The commanders last October 16th announced having signed Davis as an

unrestricted free agent to their practice squad. Carl Davis in the 5523 loss at the Philadelphia

Eagles in the NFC championship game this past January 26th actually played on 65% of the commander's

defensive snaps. He played a lot in that game. He is seen as

someone who can be good against the run. He's a big dude. He's listed as being 6.5 and 320 pounds.

Davis played for the Dallas Cowboys in the 2023 regular season, which was Commander's head coach

Dan Quinn's last of three seasons as Cowboys defensive coordinator. Also on Tuesday morning

was the announcement of the finalizing of the commanders' preseason schedule with the announcement

of the third game home to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, August 23rd at noon. So the

commanders, three games in the 2025 preseason at the New England Patriots on Friday night, August 8th at 7.30, home to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night football on August 18th at 8, and home to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, August 23rd at noon.

And we on Tuesday morning got this from the Washington Post.

According to a Washington Post-Shars School poll, 50% of all Washington, D.C. area adults now like or love the commander's team name up from 34% a year ago. The poll was conducted from April 22nd through May

4th was of 1,667 D.C. area residents. 50%. How do you feel about that? Are you among the 50%? Or do you consider this poll to be fake news?

I do think that there now is more acceptance of the name commanders off the great 2024 season that the team had.

But anecdotally, half of all DC area adults liking or loving the name seems high. Per the poll,

62% of commanders fans like or love the name. So the rate among commanders fans is higher than the rate among non-commanders fans.
