And away we go, episode one thousand sixty-four of the Al-Galdi podcast. It is Friday, May 2nd, 2025. The day after we had

quite the embrace of the commanders on national television, NFL networks, Good Morning Football.

This was NFL media personality, Ross Tucker, who was a guard for the Redskins in 2001 and

2002, Tucker with one of the hosts of the show, Kyle Brandt. Here you go. Well, I got to tell you,

dude, it is the biggest erosion of a fan base that I can ever remember in any pro sports. So

2001, as Kyle mentioned, I'm a rookie in Washington.

That football team, there was a huge season ticket waiting list.

FedEx Field was only like three or four years old.

They had just won a playoff game a couple years earlier with Brad Johnson and

Steven Davis and Stephen Alexander and Michael Westbrook.

So I'm on the team with a lot of those guys. It was a big deal and it was really cool to be a member of the Washington football team.

You fast forward to like five years ago, I would call games for Westwood One or whatever. I'm there. The stadium was like half full, okay?

And half the people that were there were for the other team. So it's a half full stadium.

And half those people were Giants fans or Bears fans or whatever. My sister and her family,

they live in Potomac, Maryland. They never talked about Washington football.

They didn't care at all.

I have never seen a bigger erosion of a fan base in my life, any team, any sport.

Now, they get a new owner.

They get a franchise quarterback.

Now they're getting a new stadium.

Now my nephew's posting about Jay and Day. Yeah. Now they're getting a new stadium. Now my nephew's posting about Jayden Day.

Now they're fired up about it.
