Today episode 86 the evacuation of Boston.

Last week the Continental Army took Dorchester Heights.

The British could not retake the Heights by force,

and possession of the Heights put the entire Boston Army and Navy at risk.

Now months before Dorchester even happened, British General William Howe had already planned to evacuate Boston.

Secretary of State George Germain had even sent communications authorizing the evacuation.

But Howe felt that a winter evacuation would be difficult.

He had planned to move his army down to New York and make New York City
