I'm Alice Fisher-Roberts, and I am going to do a post today on our early polygamous, the early polygamous wives of Joseph Smith.

talk about today Sylvia Porter Sessions Lion Clark. And I'm particularly happy to be here

to be doing this post on this amazing woman because she's also my great, great, great grandmother.

So getting started, Sylvia Sessions was born in July of 1818, July 31st in New Green.

She was born to Bartlett Sessions and David Sessions.

In 1830, her family joined the church.

They sold their farm.

And then sometime between 1834 and 1837, they traveled to Missouri Palmer Lyon, who was an army

physician.

They were married in March of 1838.

Sylvia's mother, Patty, wrote about the wedding in her journal.

Sylvia was married to Windsor P. Lion, Joseph Smith, performed the ceremony.

The next day, the prophet was there, and a good time it was.

Sylvia and Windsor left Missouri for Navu in February of 1839.

Once they arrived in Navu, they opened the Lion Drug and Variety Shop, which if you go to

Navu today, the LDS Church has rebuilt the foundations and it's open for tours.
