to the events of the Air India Flight 182 disaster and its subsequent investigation.

First some background about Air India, Flight 182.

On June 23rd, 1985, a 747 took off from Toronto on its way to London, Heathrow, en route to

an eventual destination of Bombay. The flight exploded at an

altitude of 31,000 feet over the Atlantic Ocean just south of Ireland. All 307 passengers and 22 flight crew on board were killed.

Moments earlier, a second bomb, which had been intended for Air India 301 bound for Bangkok, went off at Nureta International Airport in Tokyo,

killing two baggage handlers and injuring four.

Suspicion for the bombing quickly came to rest with a group calling itself Babar Kulsa.

It was a Sikh separatist group devoted to creating a Sikh state in the Punjab.
