Welcome to Probably Science.

Today we have a guest host, not Matt Kirsten, who is our regular host. He's out of town doing comedy instead of a podcast in my living room. So now we have a special guest host, Nick Rutherford, everybody. Hey, thanks, guys. Thanks for having me. Probably science. Probably science. We're not guaranteeing any science. Probably, though.

We like to start off by just explaining why we should or should not be talking about science and whether our guests should be either.

So my background, I studied engineering in school, electrical engineering, and I used

that for a few years out of school and then abandoned that as quickly as I could to pursue comedy-related things.

But I still enjoy staying abreast of science topics and lording my intelligence over the general comedy community.

That's true.

I graduated from the University of Iowa two years ago with a biomedical engineering degree,

I have a full-time science job at a biomedical engineering lab where I don't know what I'm doing most of the time.

But I actually did science today.

I had to do measure pH, which was pretty neat.

I was like, oh, my God.

This is, I'm doing something that I remember. Drop an acid, if you will?
