Now here's Joyce with today's series on Ephesians. We're doing the whole book of Ephesians this

weekend, and that sounds like a daunting task.

I'm trying it for a couple reasons. One book of Ephesians is just phenomenal.

Six chapters in it, and it's just absolutely phenomenal teaching.

But secondly, I really want people to study the Bible, not just read it, but study it.

And the first three chapters of Ephesians are all about how much God loves us, the grace of God,

his mercy, his forgiveness, our inheritance in Christ, who we are in Christ.

And that has to be the foundation of our walk with God.

Before we ever get around to teaching people how to behave right,

we must teach them who they are in Christ.

And so I try in my teaching to keep a good balance of that. I teach a lot on behavior,

do this, don't do this, but I always work in who we are in Christ because if you try to

teach people how to behave without them knowing how much God loves them and that his love for them

is not based on their behavior.

If that's all we teach people, which a lot of religious organizations are very guilty of that,

and it just frustrates people knowing. If we teach people right, then they can have a great
