but now an Orthodox priest serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church in Lafayette, Louisiana.

So we'll go ahead and get started. And as was

mentioned, we're starting a new book of the Bible this evening. We're going to be starting

St. Paul's, I'm going to refer to it as St. Paul's epistle to the Ephesians, but we're

going to talk about why I just couched that in just a moment. So, how to say this delicately.

Good amount of the information on the front page in the Orthodox study Bible is accurate

in terms of when and where St. Paul wrote it.

But we'll talk about that too.

So to start with, by way of introduction, well, I'll talk about why I said St. Paul's epistle to the Ephesians provisantly.

So we're not going to actually start reading, but in chapter 1 verse 1, may notice it says to the saints who are in Ephesus and faithful in Jesus Christ.

So the earliest copies of Ephesians that we have, which go back to the early part of the second century.

So relatively close to St. Paul in the time of writing, do not have the words in Ephesus there.

It just says, to the saints and faithful in Christ Jesus.

And the words in Ephesus were tacked on there.

Now the translator, the New King James translator, right, has of course accepted the in Ephesus.

We all accept the in Ephesus right but has chosen

to translate and interpret that as to the saints in Ephesus right but in Ephesus doesn't

necessarily mean he's writing it to the people in Ephesus.

Paul could be in Ephesus.
