Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and apply

scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through Friday,

as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

Welcome today to our discussion of spiritual things housed in Ephesians Chapter 5.

Believers are encouraged to imitate God by walking in love just as Christ sacrificially loved and gave himself for them.

He warns against immorality, impurity, greed, and corrupt speech, reminding them that those

who live in such things have no inheritance in God's kingdom.

Instead, they should live as children of light, producing goodness, righteousness, and truth.

He calls them to be wise, making the most of their time and avoiding foolishness.

Rather than being filled with worldly influences,

they should be filled with the spirit, worshiping God with gratitude. Paul also addresses relationships,

instructing husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the church and wives to submit to their husbands with respect.

Marriage is a reflection of Christ's love for his church, demonstrating unity,

sacrifice, and deep devotion. Imitating Jesus involves loving people. We demonstrate that love through

how we treat others, as well as by helping holiness fill their lives. This is why we must not associate with immorality

and body or speech. As children of light, we must bring the hope and holiness of Jesus into the

world to expose sin and repel darkness. This entails walking wisely every day. We should seek to be

filled with the spirit and share his wonderful qualities among Christians and in all of our relationships.

Marriage is an incredible structure to demonstrate our allegiance to our Lord.

Husbands should love as Christ loves the church.
