Ephesians chapter 4 didn't make it quite through the chapter last week but we are sitting at

verse 25 but verse 25 starts with this word, therefore, and since I

assume that people didn't just listen to that episode, we might need to explain what that,

therefore, is regarding. It is indeed important for us to explain that. So in chapter four,

really Paul is first emphasizing the unity that they have in Christ.

We keep on talking about that phrase in Christ as we go through this letter because Paul uses it all the time throughout the letter.

And so we keep on going back to it over and over and over again.

And at the beginning of chapter four, you see him note that in Christ they have all this unity,

and therefore they should strive to make sure they keep that unity,

if they don't unnecessarily divide over every wind of doctrine or every issue that comes up,

that they should seek to love one another.

And then in verses 17 through 23, which we went over the last time,

he really spends time contrasting the old self and the new self. And of course, the new self
