Who among us needs to breathe?

On February 12th, the Environmental Protection Agency, so-called, under the Trump regime,

announced a devastating change that will shape the environmental and public health landscape of this country for years, perhaps

generations, to come. The agency formally repealed the 2009 scientific determination known as

the endangerment finding. Built on more than 200 pages of research,

the finding concluded that greenhouse gas emissions pose a danger to the health and welfare

of the American people. This was not a symbolic document. This was not an opinion or a theory.

It was the legal and scientific foundation for federal efforts

to regulate carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act

grounded in the Supreme Court's 2007 decision in Massachusetts v. EPA. For nearly two decades,

the endangerment findings served as the backbone of emission standards for vehicles,

industrial pollution limits, and enforcement actions aimed at reducing the gases driving climate instability.

Repealing it is not an obscure bureaucratic adjustment buried in a federal register.

It is the removal of the single most important legal

justification the federal government has used to regulate greenhouse gas pollutions at all.

There's extensive scientific evidence showing that greenhouse gas emissions contribute to

rising global temperatures, worsening air quality, and a cascade of

environmental disruptions that threaten human health. Those consequences are not theoretical. They are

measurable. They include more extreme heat, worsening wildfires, intensified hurricanes, flooding,
