Before we start in on this story about giving birth during COVID-19, I want to acknowledge the huge protests going on in America and abroad at the time of this recording. These protests, begun after George Floyd was murdered by a police officer, are happening in response to the racism that is embedded into our societies and institutions. I have always worked to lift up and serve all mamas, but promise to continue my commitment to helping Black mamas in particular navigate America's racist medical system.
In this birth story episode, Rachel shares her experience giving birth in New York at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. We talk about why her childbirth education was particularly helpful as she navigated labor & delivery; what it was like giving birth to a big baby at the hospital during COVID-19; and why it is so important to remain flexible during your birth.
