Summary

At the start of US Open week, Iain is on his way to Pinehurst, so Andrew and Eddie are joined by the man who has just won on the DP World Tour for the first time, Laurie Canter. We hear about his victory in Germany and what his plans are now with regards to LIV and he also shares his enormous regret at the one trophy which always eluded him.

The trio also consider the dramatic collapse of Sebastian Söderberg in the final round in Sweden and ask if anybody, bar a Kentucky traffic cop, can stop the mighty Scottie Scheffler this week. In other less important news, Andrew gets in an argument with a chatbot and refuses to accept that a little toe can be called a pinkie.

It's time now for the chipping forecast, issued by Folding Pocket on behalf of Andrew Cotter, Eddie Pepperall and special guest Ian Carter.

0:34.5

So hello there, welcome to the gathering of the chipping forecast church.

0:36.8

Actually, it's more sort of doomsday cult.

0:55.1

Where I'll be inviting everyone to drink for a large bowl of Kool-Aid at the end of the episode. It's a cultural reference that some might not get. Anyway, this is a mightly special episode. We're a year old today or this week. And they said it wouldn't last. They're like marriage number five for a 93 year old billionaire. But here we are,

1:02.8

still going strong, or stumbling along 64 episodes in a year. So that's, what do I have 1.2308 episodes per week. You're lucky people. Anyway, it's the start of US Open Week. Huge amount to talk about

1:08.1

in the game. The weekend saw disqualifications, injuries, dramatic collapses. Ian is travelling on his way to Charlotte today and thence to Pinehurst.

1:17.0

Eddie is with us as ever. Eddie Pepperel, in case you didn't know. He goes you thought it was

1:21.6

Eddie, Eddie Hearn. Eddie the Eagle Edwards is with us. Eddie, how? Eddie, have you recovered from your Swedish experience?

1:29.4

Yeah, I was, I booked my flight on the 10th hole on Friday. Did you really?

1:35.3

Yeah, I did. I've made a terrible double. I want to go about six over and thought, right,

1:39.4

so I'm getting the 5.30 out of Copenhagen. So I was eager to get finished and straight in the car and at home.

1:46.4

So yeah, that's what Eddie the Eagle was up to on the Friday.

1:50.3

But I've had a nice weekend and I'm feeling somewhat replenished and ready to go and

1:55.0

watching some decorators at the house.

1:56.3

So if a splash of paint just appears on my face, then that's why.

2:38.2

Right. Okay. As in our second part of the week, we'll drop on, listen to me with a jargon, we'll drop on Wednesday because it's US Open Week. But how do you replace special guest, Ian Carter? In quality of broadcaster, you can't. In quality of golfer, you can. You can trade up quite significantly. In fact, as we have done with Laurie Cantor again, hello Laurie. How are you? Hello, Andrew. Yeah, I'm all good. Thanks. Oh, listen to that clarity of microphone. Is this just on your laptop or are you? It's just laptop, yeah. Okay, oh no, it's gone downhill now. Where are you at the moment? I'm in in Corfu. Oh, right. Nice. Yes, holiday. Well earned holiday. So if you don't count Ian's 58, no, 64 appearances as special guest, then Laurie is the first guest to make a

2:42.9

repeat appearance, I think, on the chipping forecast. So what an honour for you, for us, no, for you.

2:54.6

But congratulations. I mean, I did send you a message of congratulations. I'm still waiting for a reply. So no, you did get back to me about four

2:59.9

days later, so that was nice because we're that close. But anyway, well done. I mean,

3:03.9

how has it been post-victory? It's been great been great to be honest i had um i think it was good

3:09.0

to be able to have this week off and i've just come away with with my family and that was always the
