Summary

Rochelle Porto and I dig into the French and Indian War (1754-1763). The name is confusing since the war is actually between the UK and France. The war is a formative part of our pre-Revolutionary period, shaping many of the legendary names in our history. This is where we see the rise of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and the roots of the Culper Spy Ring. The French and Indian War also sets the conditions for the protests against taxation and fixes the spirit of revolution in the hearts of the colonialists that ultimately lead us to the Declaration of Independence.
