Summary
EP283. Vanessa Marin, LMFT and her husband, Xander are the authors of Sex Talks: The Five Conversations That Will Transform Your Love Life. One common issue that comes up in marriage post-baby is a lack of intimacy and a loss of connection. We think sex should happen spontaneously and naturally, and that we shouldn't need to do anything to feel desire. It often does feel that way in the beginning of relationships, meaning that couples never have meaningful conversations about sex, what turns them on, what they need to feel connected, or learn how to navigate sexual conflict effectively. So when the honeymoon phase wears off, and the spark dims, couples are left feeling lost if their sex life doesn't live up to what it used to be. In this Episode, Vanessa and Xander help us discover what type of sex drive, sex personality type, and initiation style you have, and then they get into the five essential conversations that every romantic couple should have.

| 0:00.0 | Is drinking raw milk safe like RFK Jr. suggests? Can you reduce a glucose spike if you eat your food in, quote, unquote, the right order? I'm registered dietitian Abby Sharp. I host a nutrition myth-busting podcast called Bite Back with Abby Sharp. And those are just some of the questions I tackle with qualified experts on my show. |
| 0:21.4 | There is so much food misinformation and disinformation out there, and it can feel impossible |
| 0:27.9 | to know what's real and what's BS. |
| 0:30.7 | On Biteback, my goal is to help listeners create a pleasurable relationship with food, |
| 0:35.3 | their body, and themselves, which in my opinion is the |
| 0:38.6 | fundamental secret to good health. Listen to bite back wherever you get your podcasts. |
| 0:44.9 | This podcast is brought to you by Podcast Nation. Welcome to the mom room. Take your shoes off |
| 0:51.9 | at the door. Come in. Relax. I think that's how I'm going to start the podcast from now on. I'm going to like pretend that you're coming over and say something, you know, like, oh, can I get you a drink? Like something like that. I think that's cute. Anywho, very exciting, very romantic episode today. I am speaking with Vanessa Marin, who is a licensed |
| 1:14.0 | marriage and family therapist and her husband, Xander Marin. In this episode, they are |
| 1:20.2 | sharing extremely valuable information about sex, specifically how to talk about sex with your partner. What are the conversations that we should be having |
| 1:30.8 | about sex with our partner? And I'm sure most of us don't even talk about sex with our partner, |
| 1:37.4 | which is so strange. But it's uncomfortable for everyone to talk about sex because we grow up in a |
| 1:43.0 | society and a culture where sex is very |
| 1:46.0 | taboo and it's not something that we just casually talk about. It's weird, like we do, but probably not |
| 1:54.3 | with our romantic partner. Or if we do talk about it with our romantic partner, it's very superficial |
| 2:00.8 | and not, like, we have a |
| 2:03.7 | hard time, especially as women, expressing like our needs and our desires. And when it comes to sex |
| 2:09.6 | in a romantic relationship, that is no exception. So it was really nice to sit down with Vanessa |
| 2:15.8 | and Zander and talk about sex and what we should be talking |
| 2:20.6 | about. And a lot of the questions that they, you know, want us to ask ourselves and to ask our |
| 2:26.4 | partner, it's really important stuff. And it's like, have we even taken the time to sit and |
| 2:31.8 | think about this? So I highly recommend listening to this episode, |
