Hey, pilot. Welcome back to Ready for Pushback. It's Nick Fialca. I'm glad you're here. I have my big

bottle of water. I've been drinking a lot, recording some solo shows today. It has been a fun, fun weekend for me,

but now I've got to go fly. But before I do, I wanted to record a couple shows. And I wanted to

reach out to you and see how you're doing and talk to you about something that I think is really

cool and really impactful. Have you thought about the word

prudence before? It's really applicable for aviation. I've been chewing on this for a little

while and thinking about it. Prudence is literally defined as the ability to govern oneself

through reason and caution. And I think that it's really important in

aviation. And here's why. Prudence starts with pre-flight planning, meticulous pre-flight planning.

As pilots, the journey starts long before you take off. We have to review things like weather conditions.

Aircraft systems, are there things that we need to know about this plane that are going to

impact this flight? Where are we going? What is the flight plan? Is it clear or is it treacherous?

There's a level of preparation that requires prudence because it helps you anticipate potential

issues and prepare effective contingencies in case one of those issues pops up.

And by managing those risks proactively, you can ensure a safe journey and protect everybody that's flying with you.

And that's prudence.
