I'm E.G. Marshall. To harrow it's ninth season on the air, the mystery theater is presenting that classic story of crime and retribution, Victor Hugo's Les Miserables.

We have been tracing the story of Jean Valjean, who served a 19-year sentence for stealing

a loaf of bread. After an aborted attempt to steal silverware from a kindly bishop,

he has gone straight, so straight in fact that he was regarded by everyone in the town of Moulin

as the paragon of kindness and generosity, factory owner and and eventually mayor. But his life as an honest

man was cut short by fate, and once again, Jean Valjean found himself in prison.
