CBS News, American forces are preparing the bodies of more than 400 Jones Town-Gaiana cult members for return to the United States.

This is Doug Poling reporting on the CBS Radio Network.

The Americans are doing their grim work wearing gas masks because of the growing danger of cholera at the jungle commune.

From Georgetown, Guyana, CBS News correspondent Steve Young has a report.

Since their death by poison Saturday, the victims of the Jonestown suicide pact have been lying

in the steamy jungle where they fell.

A joint U.S. Guyanese news conference announced tonight that the first 40 bodies finally

have been processed and helicoptered to the airport outside the Guyanese capital.

It's expected that they'll be flown out of the country in the next few hours.

Officials were unwilling to be pinned down to how long it will take to evacuate all of the bodies of the remaining victims.
