Today I'm going to share some thoughts on why I started this podcast and what I hope to accomplish with it.

learn more. If you're brand new to me and my work, I was a classroom teacher in

Title I schools for 11 years.

My first five years I taught just outside of Washington, D.C. and then I taught in the

inner city of Miami and later in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

I started off teaching Head Start, which is a pre-K program for children from low-income families,

and then I taught second and third grades.

I began a website for teachers back toward the beginning of my

career in 2003 and back then there really wasn't any such thing as a blog. There

was no social media and teachers were just starting

to get access to digital cameras to take pictures of their classroom.

And so that's what I started doing.

I borrowed the digital camera that the school had, and I would take pictures of what I did and I shared them on message board forums.

I really enjoyed sharing this practical ideas that were working in my classroom. And so I taught myself HTML
