Today, I'd like to start with a message from Kristen Godsee at The New York Times about

why women had better sex under communism.

This is a real article.

Some of you may recall that's from 2017, I think.

Now, those of you who have been listening to the show for a bit will know what I think

about communism, know what I think about the Soviet Union.

let's read Godsee's take on what was good about, you know, what was nice about life under

Stalin in the Eastern block.

Some might remember that Eastern block women enjoyed many rights and privileges, unknown

in liberal democracies at the time, including major state investments in their education

and training, their full incorporation into the labor force, generous maternity leave

allowances and guaranteed free childcare.

But there's one advantage that has received little attention.

Women under communism enjoyed more sexual pleasure.

Oh my gosh, this is a real thing and I promise I'm going somewhere with it, but I do just

have to read to you a little bit more of this article.

Consider Anna Durchhava from Bulgaria, who was 65 when I first met her in 2011, having

lived her first 43 years under communism, she often complained that the new free market

hindered Bulgarian's ability to develop healthy amorous relationships.
