0:00.0	In our modern Olympics, what I noticed is that each gymnast that won a medal would parade around the perimeter of the gymnasium. Well, this dates all the way
0:23.6	back to the ancient Olympic Games. The ancient athletes, they would sacrifice 100 oxen on the
0:31.6	altar of Zeus. Then there was this huge banquet and feast. And then finally, what happened is the
0:37.3	victors went in procession to the temple of Zeus. And then finally what happened is the victors went in procession to the
0:39.9	temple of Zeus and they were crowned with these wreaths of sacred olive branches from Altus, again,
0:48.0	which is the sacred grove. It was believed that Nike, who was victory personified, was present at these thank offerings and
0:57.0	ceremonies. What we see in the modern games is we see rituals and traditions that actually
1:03.0	continue the legacy of the spirit of the Olympics, and that spread throughout the world and is
1:08.9	actually invited into these host cities.
1:12.6	The Olympic Games are a form of worship to these Olympian gods.
1:17.1	And we see that because in understanding the ancient Greek culture, they esteemed physical perfection.
1:24.5	In fact, the Greeks would build gymnasium so that they could train their boys to
1:28.8	become these muscular specimens. And that was because they believed that athletic competition
1:34.7	was actually pleasing to the gods. And it was fitting then that the sacred grove of Altus
1:41.2	became home to the Olympic Games. It was adorned with these temples, these halls,
1:47.1	and statues, and it was commemorating victories of not only athletes, but also military achievements.
1:54.0	So what the Greeks did is they incorporated sport in their worship because physical perfection
