I'm so glad Peter Van Buren is back with us.

We had such a great conversation not too long ago when he was on to talk about his quite extraordinary and wonderfully well-written book, We Meant Well, How I Helped Lose the Battle for the Hearts and and minds of the Iraqi people. Well, he is back

with a brand new book called Hooper's War, a novel of World War to Japan. Peter Van Buren is a former

United States Foreign Service employee who spent a year in Iraq serving as team leader for two

provincial reconstruction teams. He's a 24-year

veteran of the U.S. Department of State, and he writes about Iraq and the Middle East at his

blog, We Meant Well. And there's an interesting notice there, at least as of this recording in
