Chuck Arrifying here with Ryan McGuffie on the podcast today, a conversation with White Sox pitcher, Hector Santiago, who signed a minor league

contract with the White Sox just before camp and has been their best pitcher so far in the

spring training. Would you agree? Not even close. I mean, it's not only that, he's been

going out, he's pitching three innings. He's been efficient, quick strike, throwing strikes.

I mean, he don't take a- Sometimes a problem for him, but not so far. Not this spring. I mean, he don't take a problem for him, but not so

far. I mean, he's had one, and he just looks like a man on a mission. Yeah. So we spoke with Hector

about a number of things. What he says about Carson Fulmer is probably the one thing that really

gets me and shows you what kind of person that Hector is,

because these guys essentially are competing for one spot in the rotation. And what Hector

says about Carson is very, says a lot about Hector. Don't you think if we had to put Rick

in the hot seat right now and just ask him, like short list of guys that were at the top of the

your wish list for this off season hector santiago was right at the top like it wasn't just

something that kind of came together in january i really believe maybe like a november in the

organizational meetings when they were talking about possible names he was probably one of the

first names they brought up didn't know if it would happen or come to fruition because they probably weren't willing to do like a major league deal had he gotten one. But he was a guy, I guarantee you, because they knew the character of this kid. Yep. I say kid, but he was a kid when he left him. Now he's 30. Yeah. And they knew exactly. I think they knew when you listen to this conversation and when you,

when you listen to how he's dealt with Carson Fulmer, it tells you a lot about why the White

Sox signed him in the first place.

And Hector is going to talk at length about what it was like to be a free agent in this crazy,

it's not even crazy.
