Summary

On this week's bonus episode we're talking with a former Disneyland Cast Member about her recent experience at "A Touch of Disney," the limited food and shopping experience at Disney's California Adventure park. Rachel has loads of great info to share about the $75 hard ticketed event, and even throws in a few fun stories from her time as a cast member at Disneyland - where she worked in concessions, was good friends with several of your favorite Disney princesses, and wore the plaids as a Disneyland VIP tour guide. All this and more on this week's fabulous bonus episode! Oh, Rachel, she put out a fire on the wagon that I started. And I kid you not, solo, so I am the DCL solo. Brian is unable to join us, but I am

0:40.9

excited to welcome a guest, Rachel, to talk about a touch of Disney at Disneyland.

0:47.0

Rachel, welcome to the show. Thank you for having me, Samantha. So on our bonus episodes,

0:51.8

we don't usually talk about somebody's Disney background, but Rachel,

0:55.6

you have such an interesting Disney background. I'd love for you to tell our listeners a little

0:59.5

bit about it. Oh my gosh. Okay. Well, I grew up in Southern California and I went to a Catholic

1:06.7

private school and every year they had Catholic school days for our school. It was usually

1:12.8

spring break. This was back in the days when they had ticket booths and all of that. So we would go

1:17.9

once a year, you know, it was a luxury. And so I just, of course, fell in love at the parks and the

1:23.4

characters. And then when I was in high school, a senior in high school, some of my friends

1:29.1

started to work at Disneyland in different parts of the park. I thought, hey, that would be a

1:34.5

really awesome job. So I applied everybody, I think probably everybody applies to be in attractions.

1:42.9

They hired me in the outdoor vending department, which is

1:46.3

the little popcorn and ice cream stands and balloons. Oh my God, it was so much fun. I met so many

1:52.5

people. And back then, we had canoe races in the summertime before the park opened. And our family Christmas party was just the cast members

2:03.5

from Disneyland and the hotels. So it was like five minute waits for all the attractions. And our

2:11.5

managers would be working all the booths, handing out the popcorn and all of that. It was just kind of a magical time.

2:18.8

And then after outdoor vending, I transferred to the character department to be in entertainment.

2:24.2

So I did that for five years, which was also really fun. I traveled with the character

2:30.4

department to different states for openings like the Disney stores. And then, then I moved to

2:37.7

guest relations, which was also amazing. I gave tours at the park. I just love the history of the

2:43.8

park and finding out so much information I could about why Walt did things. And so I gave the
