0:38.0	Today we'll be telling the story of St. Bridget of Ireland, also known as St. Bridget of Kildare.
0:42.0	Bridget was born in 451 in County Luth, Ireland. Her mother was a Christian slave that had been baptized by St. Patrick, and her father was a chieftain who was married to another woman.
0:50.0	When Bridget's mother was pregnant with her, she was sold to a different owner.
0:54.0	Bridget was born into slavery and lived with her mother until she was 10 years old.
0:59.0	Her holiness was noticed even when she was a child,
1:02.0	and she was known for feeding and healing the poor.
1:05.0	At age 10, Bridget was given back to her father, who didn't particularly enjoy the girl's
1:10.0	charitable spirit.
1:11.8	In fact, she annoyed him so much that he decided to sell her to the
1:15.5	king. But the king saw Bridget's holiness and convinced her father to grant her
1:20.5	her freedom instead.
