Today on the On the Inquirer podcast, it is time to talk some Illinois football recruiting,

as Illinois has added two commitments in the class of 2026 over the last couple

days. Three-star DeKalb wide receiver, Davon Grant. He's a 6'4, 200-pound freak of an athlete.

And then also added an offensive lineman out of Nebraska, Landon von Segerne, who chose Illinois

over Iowa, Kansas, and Kansas State. Davon Grant chose Illinois over Wisconsin, Minnesota, some other Big Ten offers.

So a nice start to this class of 2026 for Illinois.

They have four commitments already as we record this.

On January 16th, it's about a top 40 class at the moment right now.

And Kingston Shaw out of the edge rush right of Florida isn't even

rated yet.

And of course, Michael Clayton, the quarterback, was a big addition early in this class.

So Illinois is back out on the recruiting trail right now with the contact period going through

February 1st.

So you get the big man, Brett Bielma, back on the trail.

You get the rest of his staff back on the trail making this push in

2026 but also offering some kids in 2027, 2028 even, starting to feel old. I've already felt old

for a while. But anyway, they also are hosting kids on campus. They had many of their top targets

on campus for the USC basketball game. Obviously,

didn't go well for Illinois. But Illinois already has turned one of those into a commitment

with Von Segerne. And now they're looking to add more. And I figured this was a great time to

catch up with Alan True, who I've known for a really long time, back to our scout days. I just think

he does a phenomenal job
