Summary

Guest Info/Bio: This week is a very special and personal episode for us. On November 10, 2018 we lost our dear friend Simon Forsythe. Simon was our pastor, our friend, our very first interview (episode #2), and helped us get this podcast off the ground. This week we speak with Mel, his wife and co-lead pastor of LIFE Church about Simon, their church, and Simon’s legacy. Melanie Forsythe is the Lead Pastor of LIFE Vineyard Church, a vibrant faith community in the heart of Columbus, Ohio. She came to faith in the post-Christian landscape of Australia. There, Melanie was a youth pastor for many years before moving to America alongside her now late husband and co-founder of LIFE Vineyard. In spite of the unexpected loss of her husband in late 2018, Melanie is unapologetically in love with the Gospel, and full of hope and vision for the future of the local church. Her Selah conference, held annually in Columbus reaches women from all walks of life, calling them to live lives of authentic devotion to Jesus. This episode is dedicated in loving memory to Simon. Like about as special as it gets, actually. Yeah. Yeah. So we talk about this when we kick this episode off, but we have a very special guest with us today.

0:44.4

And I know I talk about this in the episode, but it's important to, I think, kick this one off by giving some context.

0:59.0

And so one of our dear friends, Simon Forsy's, some of you reached out to us, is very sweet on social media and through email and stuff when you find out, especially those of you've been listening to us from the beginning. He was our second ever episode. Dear friend who helped us kickstart this whole project, helped us set up our original website, helped us with all sorts of stuff.

1:04.8

Massive support. Yeah, so Simon Forsyth was our first ever live interview, episode number two.

You guys should go back and listen

1:16.2

forever. Yeah. So we had, so we have Mel Forsyth, his wife on today. Hey, Mel. And so Mel,

1:27.3

was kind enough to join us today to talk about Simon and, you know, his legacy is, you know, the things that we loved about him and just talk about, like, his journey and where he was going.

1:40.9

And so the second part of the series will be with a dear friend of ours who's been on

1:45.7

the show multiple times. I think he's the longest running champion. Sweet, sweet Uncle Shia.

1:51.0

Yeah. We'll talk more about the Camino. So yeah, what else we want to say? Yeah, no, it's just

1:57.8

kind of one of those things that you kind of commemorate life while it's happening and you pick up whatever's happening around you and you honor it and we tell stories.

2:08.9

And this is kind of what we do on this podcast.

2:11.4

And a lot of times it's reaching out and trying to find that author that we think is going to give people some, you know, some hope or some

2:18.3

different perspective or, you know, some exciting things to think about. But sometimes it's just

2:24.3

good to just drop all that for a second and just be human and look at what's around you because

2:29.7

that's just as special. And Simon and Melanie Forsyth are the reason John and I are here. Yeah. And we all

2:36.9

can't be without each other. We're all inextricably linked. We love each other. Yep. And

their church was my church and is still my family. and Mel is my family.

And now she is the lead pastor, and always was the lead pastor, but now she's doing it on her own of the church that her and Simon pastored and started together.
