Summary

In the Summer 2021 Book Preview (Ep. 86), Catherine and I shared our most anticipated books coming out June – July 2021. But, we often haven’t read the books we share in the Preview Episodes.

So, in this new series, we will “circle back” to update you on all the books we presented in the previous season’s Book Preview now that we’ve at least attempted to read them.

This post contains affiliate links, through which I make a small commission when you make a purchase (at no cost to you!).

Bonus Books

  • Join our Patreon Community ($5/mo) to get our bonus podcast episode series called Book Preview Extras! In these episodes, Catherine and I share at least 4 bonus books (we’re sharing 5 this month) that we’re excited about that we did not share in the regular Preview episode. Get more details about all the goodies available to our patrons and sign up here!

Highlights

  • Sarah’s and Catherine’s success rates from the Summer Preview.
  • Our Best and Worst picks from the Summer 2021 Preview episode.
  • How Sarah differentiates between a DNF and a sample.
  • How Catherine and I would prefer teenage characters speak in YA books.

0:18.9

We're going to get real, and sometimes a bit snarky,

0:21.8

about all things books. If you like the show, I'd really love your support. Spread the word

to your reader friends, subscribe to the show, rate and review it wherever you listen to podcasts.

Let's get rolling. Hey, everyone. Welcome to the Summer 2021 circle back episode, which is an extension of

0:40.7

the quarterly book previews. Catherine from the blog Gilmore Guide to Books and Gilmore Guide

0:46.5

on Instagram is joining me. Y'all know that for the quarterly book previews, Catherine and I

0:52.1

have generally not read the majority of the books that we share.

0:56.1

So in these episodes, Catherine and I circle back to share our thoughts on the books we included

1:02.2

in the preview now that we've had the chance to read them in most cases today.

1:08.0

So since today you're getting the summer circle back episode, next week you will be

1:12.7

getting the fall 2021 book preview episode. Catherine, welcome back. Thank you. And may I just say,

1:20.8

Sarah, I hope everyone appreciates the tremendous sacrifice you've made in having to even think about

1:26.4

recording this podcast while

1:27.8

the Olympics are going on. I know, it has been difficult. It cuts into your viewing time.

1:33.4

I, for one, am greatly appreciative. Well, we are recording on Tuesday, August 3rd,

1:39.8

which is week two of the Olympics, which I care less about week two. Right. Swimming's over.

1:45.8

Swimming and gym. Well, there's a little last piece of gymnastics has already happened,

1:50.2

but is airing in prime time tonight. Right. Yeah. And then I will truly care a lot less about what's

1:55.6

going on. I only fully block off my calendar for week one. Okay. And y'all, I should say, we will be doing

2:02.9

some Olympics talk in the superlatives episode for patrons. How could we not? Yeah, of course we are. So if you
