Linda Wertheimer is a former education editor of the Boston Globe and a reporter at the Dallas Morning

News and Orlando Sentinel. She recently published a book called Faith Ed teaching about religion in an age of intolerance.

And so I really want to talk about what that book is and what exactly that means.

So Linda, thanks for joining us and let me just start off by saying, you know,

religion is in the news so frequently now,

and young people, I would assume,

are just exposed to it all the time.

What do they know about religion? Do they know more or less than, you know, a

generation ago?

So I think it's a little hard to know whether they know more or less than a generation ago.

I think they're poised to learn more than previous generations.

Let me put it that way. I mean if what I'm seeing continues,

you know, where the kids are learning about the world's religions as part of social space and

geography and the teachers are doing a good job, then they

should leave high school knowing more about religion than previous generations.
