Hey, folks, welcome to the adventure sports podcast. I'm your host, Mason. Today's episode is so fascinating because Fiona is a vegan and has been since she

0:24.3

was three years old. She just had this conviction in her heart that she couldn't shake.

0:29.0

And, you know, personally, I'm not vegan, but I highly respect anyone who has a conviction

0:35.4

to make this world a better place and they stick to it and they follow it.

0:39.4

And this interview was unexpectedly one of the most impactful I'd ever had. I just walk,

0:46.0

I remember just my mouth kind of being dropped, my jaw being dropped the rest of the day.

0:51.0

And I was telling my wife about it at dinner that night.

1:00.0

And Fiona, I think just the energy she has, the fire she brings to everything she does. And sticking to this one goal for her entire life is what made me so moved to me, I guess,

1:07.0

so much about this episode. And I'm not going to lie, Fiona really got me thinking about my own choices with food,

1:15.4

but also about what it means to have convictions about something and have a fire in you

1:23.7

about something you want to see change in the world and being that change. I just have never

1:29.0

talked to someone with so much energy and had so much to do and it was doing it and just figuring it

1:34.7

out and making it happen. Fiona is someone that doesn't come up with excuses that figures out a way

1:41.0

and relentlessly pursues the things that she wants to do to make this world

1:46.4

better. And what I love about it, it's not a selfish pursuit. It's not about her and her own

1:51.0

achievements, but using what she can do with her body to promote these messages that she

1:56.5

cares about and these things that she cares about. So, you know, back in the day, you know,

2:01.0

vegans were viewed as weaker athletes and she wanted to fight against that as hard and as

2:06.4

swiftly as possible. And not only began entering and completing ultra-marathons, but winning them

2:12.5

so much so that she became one of the greatest ultra-runners ever, and to this day, completes these

2:20.2

unbelievable races and challenges, and has even had documentaries, recent documentaries made about her

2:26.0

most recently, Running for Good, an amazing documentary produced by the same director and producer
