Enlightenment, of awakening, is much more inclusive of life experience than just sitting in a meditation hall.

You know, our life is our practice.

And we really see this unmistakably

when we consider and investigate the noble eightfold path.

Having established ourselves here to some extent

in right understanding,

an understanding of the three characteristics of understanding that attachment causes suffering, and having established ourselves at least somewhat in the second step of right thought,

that is seeing the value of thoughts of renunciation of non-greed, of loving kindness, of non-hagrid of compassion,

the non-cruelty.

The Buddha then lays out the next three steps in how we can apply these

understand and how we can apply our wisdom in the world.

So the next three steps on the path are actually about how we live our lives and that is how we live our lives in our speech, in our action, and in our livelihood.

So as we reflect on our own commitment at whatever level it is to freeing the mind, to freedom, to awakening.

We mind notice a tendency to relegate these aspects of the path of speech, of action, of livelihood,
