Genesis Owusu from Canberra Australia. Together we break down the inspiration, writing, and

recording of the single Don't Need You, taken from his 2021 debut album,

Smiling with No Teeth. Genesis mentioned how he likes a challenge and works best

when his back is against the wall. Well he amazed me with how this album came

about and he couldn't have been thrown further into the fire than right off the bat when his manager

basically put him in a room with a bunch of musicians he didn't know without one musical note or

lyric written and after six ten hour days he somehow walked out with a complete album and by complete album I mean

one that was awarded in Aria which is Australia's highest ranking music award the

record won album of the year best hip hip-hop release, and best independent release.

And he's got an incredible buzz going on at the moment.

With a recent performance on Late Night with Stephen Colbert,

his star is shining bright, and in my opinion, the sky's the limit.
