Woods. Hey everybody, Tom Woods here. Joseph Sheima is our guest. Shima S-I-M-A. Like me, Joseph

Shima is a graduate of the Mises Institute's summer program called the Mises University.

It's a week-long program.

You learn an awful lot about the Austrian School of Economics.

But unlike me, Joseph Shima lives in the Czech Republic and has been promoting free market economics and libertarianism over there for many years since the

collapse of communism in Czechoslovakia. And right now, his latest efforts involve being president

of the Sevreau Institute, which is a free market college located in Prague. And we're going to

talk about that because it is of great

significance and potentially of some importance for some younger listeners of this show. We'll also

talk a bit about politics and whether getting a free market guy into office yields you the results

that you want, all kinds of fun stuff like that. Joseph,

welcome to the show. Thank you for having me. Considering how many friends we have in common,

it's, first of all, strange we've never met in person, and second, that it took me until

episode 885 to get you on here. But what a story you have and what a life you've led and what

work you've done. it's really quite something.

Now, you are, I'll just say you're a couple years younger than I am. We'll leave it right there.

So you would have been fairly young during the years that the communist regime was still active in what was then Czechoslovakia.
