and thank you so much for sitting in today. Helen Hong had a business engagement she couldn't get out of, so we're so happy to have you. You've been a guest on the show before. You've been in our

audience several times, and now you've been promoted to co-host. So excited. I'm so excited. And I had no other business meeting. So, you know, here I am.

Well, you are about to have a lot of business going on because you have a new book out. It's about the 10-year-old daughter of a congressman who solves these various mysteries. And in this book, a mysterious bird poops on the president's head during the state of the

union address. Oh, no. I know. It's terrible. And everybody wants to get the bird. Yeah, that is what we call

an inciting incident. Well, as part of the process of having this new book that's just out,

you, of course, are promoting it by doing interviews.

You made your mark as an interviewer for NPR. What's it like to be on the other side of that having other people interview you?

Well, you know, I have to tell you, the worst interview I ever conducted as a talk show host was with Terry Gross, of all people.

Oh, no. And it was because she only gave one word answers. And so I used to

make fun of that, but now I realize, oh, you got to keep talking, Kitty, even if you don't know

what you're going to say next. Just keep talking. Yeah, that's right. You were doing that silly thing

of answering the question as opposed to getting the point out that you wanted to get. That's right. And of course, you escaped radio for the wonderful world of podcasting.
