Summary

Adventure travel guiding: Courtney Condy's life-changing path from corporate job to surviving the 2015 Nepal earthquake on Everest Base Camp Trek, leaving her desk job to guide adventures worldwide, and launching Occupation Wild to help others find dream adventure careers beyond 9 to 5.

Originally aired - December 21, 2018

Courtney Condy graduated college in 2013 and jumped right into the corporate sector thinking she would have time later to travel and pursue her adventures. She was wrong.

After finding inspiration from a friend and none from her job, she finally booked an Everest Base Camp Trek in 2015. On that journey, she ended up almost dying in the April 25 Nepal earthquake. It was an adventure, to say the least. It changed her whole life to the point she opted out of her desk job and started working as an adventure travel guide all over the world.

Earlier this year after seeing a gap in the adventure career market she decided to break away from her job, once again, to launch her own company, Occupation Wild, where he hopes of helping others find their dream job and live life beyond 9 to 5.

0:32.8

Yesterday, really over the weekend, I was getting our episodes ready, and I went to upload some of the recent episode,

0:41.5

the interviews I've done and had recorded,

0:45.7

and I realized that the hardware, or the, I'm sorry,

0:51.5

the hard drive that I had my interviews on was corrupted.

0:56.6

And there was nothing I could seem to do about it.

1:00.6

So I was not able to pull up or find any of the interviews I've done recently.

1:09.3

So that being said, I lost those interviews, which

1:13.9

really, really sucks. I probably lost, gosh, probably around 10, 10 interviews I'd recorded across

1:21.5

this podcast and without compromise. And I've talked to some folks and I've looked up a bunch of stuff and it looks like,

1:30.2

yeah, it's just lost.

1:31.4

So unfortunately what that means is I have a lot less interviews done now.

1:36.5

I still have some and I still can release new episodes on Mondays.

1:40.7

But I just wasn't able to work it out in time over the weekend.

1:44.6

I had been gone for the last two weeks in California backpacking and working with my day job at athletic brewing.

1:52.3

And also I went to a big outdoor media summit, which was just absolutely awesome.

1:57.2

Met a lot of cool people there.

1:58.7

Talked a lot about the podcast.
