| 1:18.4 | gets the sack. Illinois eaks out, 50 to 49 over Purdue. So it is a win. But there are a lot of |
| 1:24.7 | discouraging things to talk about some interesting things in the post game that we got to get to. |
| 1:29.7 | But Joy Wagner, I've watched a lot of games like that that Illinois does not win. Barry Loney said earlier in the week, we just got to score one more point than the other one. Barry Lennie's crew did its job because they scored one more point in the other team by getting 50. honestly like the way we were talking at half time it's like Illinois might 30 them and it might be one of those ugly Purdue games that you had seen the last couple weeks at that third quarter Jeremy like let's just get I don't want to jump ahead of ourselves that second half was a mess the third quarter was a total mess Illinois did squeakak out a win. They're five and one. You'd much rather, if you're Illinois, learn from obviously from a one point when Brett Bealma made sure to hammer that point home. I don't think he was talking to us as much as he was talking to his locker room. And I don't know that I buy that entirely. That it's the best thing that could have happened to Illinois. But that got dicey at the end. And there was a point. Luke Altmeyer, it's a gamer, a gamer, man. He had a heck of a game. Get the cannon, move on to Michigan. A lot of questions. We'll get into those, Jeremy. A lot of questions. Yeah, so I'm sitting here talking with Joey. Like, how do we discuss this game? there is so much to happen. And what was it, four hours of this game? Illinois is 4 and 0 under Brett Bielman, overtime games, 2 and 0 this year. And the margins of these games, we talk about all the time, Joey. The margins of wins and losses in the Brett Bielma era are insane. What's you now 10 and 10 in one score games? I mean, that's 20 games in three and a half seasons decided by just one score. In Illinois, it's three in one, or three in O in those games so far this year. So they're just kind of flipping what happened last year. So the margins are very, very small. But I figured the way the best I kind of break down this game is to totally rip off one of my favorite podcasts about the Chicago Bears. And that's Hogan, John. Shout out to the Adams. We do a great job. We're going to do likes and dislikes of this game. But we feel like we have to start Joey with this is a real rivalry. And Ryan Walters has added to it. |
| 3:24.9 | Tip of the cap to former defensive coordinator, Ryan Walters, who called the |
| 3:29.5 | Purdue offense today and scored 49 points. |
| 3:33.3 | A team that scored 44 points in its previous four games against FBS teams. |
| 3:38.0 | But Brett Bielma finally kind of set it out loud, Joey. So I want to play a clip of Brett Bielma. It's about a minute and a half, but I think it is really instructive about what he said about this is the best thing that could happen to us. But then talking about why this game against Purdue kind of had him pissed off and riled up coming into it. So here's Brett Bielba. It's a canon, right? So to get that thing in the mix, we can stop talking about that. |
| 4:15.0 | And then to have a big lead, something we hadn't done this year, right? Like we, you know, one convincingly, probably Central Michigan and Eastern Illinois, but those kind of took some while to get there. So to have that lead and then kind of, I think, whether there's coaches, players, to let our guard down for a moment, |
