Today we'll be telling the story of St. Kiran, whose

feast is celebrated on September 9th. Kiran was born around the year 516 in

Conact Ireland as a boy he worked as a cattleherder and was known even then for his

holiness.

Kiran was very smart and studied at the monastery of Clonard, led by St. Finian.

He quickly became known as the smartest student and was even asked to tutor the princess.

After finishing his studies, Kiran moved to the Aran Islands to be mentored by St Saint Enda of Arran.

After traveling to different locations for several years,

St. Karen finally settled in the center of Ireland.

There, in around 544, he founded the monasteryastery of Clonmachnoy.

This monastery became known as Ireland's center of learning and art,

teaching thousands of students from around Ireland and Northern Europe. It was one of the greatest literary schools in Ireland

and the remains of the monastery can still be visited today.
