| 0:00.0 | Welcome to Sarah's Bookshelves Live. I'm talking with one bookish guest about two old books they love, two new books they love, one book they don't love, and one new release they're excited about. We're going to get real, and sometimes a bit snarky, |
| 0:21.9 | about all things books. If you like the show, I'd really love your support. Spread the word |
| 0:27.0 | to your reader friends, subscribe to the show, rate and review it wherever you listen to podcasts. |
| 0:32.8 | Let's get rolling. Hey everyone. Welcome to the 2021 summer book preview. As usual for these quarterly preview episodes, |
| 0:41.1 | Catherine, from Gilmore Guide to Books, is joining me. Welcome back, Catherine. Thank you. So many books |
| 0:47.6 | to talk about. I know. Don't you feel like for this spring preview, we maybe were short on books to pick. However, the quality |
| 0:55.7 | was amazing. But for the summer preview, I feel like I can't give attention to close to all the |
| 1:02.1 | books I want to give attention to. No, absolutely, because spring was the one where we kept |
| 1:06.5 | changing right up to the last minute because it was like, oh, that's not coming out or that's not |
| 1:10.8 | working. Yes. But June and July, I'm like, okay, wait a minute. I've got over 30 books that I want |
| 1:18.0 | to read in the two months that I'm really interested in, not just unsolicited stuff. So. |
| 1:25.3 | Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, it's a different first world problem. It is. It is that. |
| 1:30.8 | So as Catherine mentioned, we are going to be highlighting books coming out in June and July. |
| 1:35.6 | We have double-checked the publication dates as of recording, which is May 24th, but this stuff's |
| 1:42.0 | moving around. So keep that in mind. And y'all know I usually try to share |
| 1:47.5 | books that have been vetted by trusted recommendation sources. I'm diverting a little bit from |
| 1:53.6 | that strategy today. And that is because I am trying to spotlight some books that are not |
| 1:59.5 | already all over Instagram. |
| 2:01.4 | And that's a tall order because I feel like everything is all over Instagram. |
| 2:06.1 | But we'll see how it goes. |
| 2:07.3 | So I'm crossing my fingers. |
| 2:08.8 | I have read the first couple pages of every one of these just to test out the writing style. |
