Summary

Dr. Ken Miller is a Professor of Biology at Brown University and the co-author of a Biology textbook used in schools across the country. He’s also the author of "Finding Darwin’s God" and "Only a Theory." I'm talking to him now because it's the tenth anniversary of the Kitzmiller v. Dover case which gutted the Intelligent Design movement. Miller was an expert witness for the science side. I spoke with him about whether evolution advocates can finally relax, how a Roman Catholic like himself reconciles science and faith, and the effect of Creationist propaganda on science literacy. 0:41.0	But it popped back up in the form of intelligent design, an idea that says
0:45.1	we were all created by a designer, whoever it was, wink wink.
0:50.0	Ten years ago, the Dover Area School District in Pennsylvania was requiring educators to teach
0:55.0	intelligent design in the classroom.
0:57.4	Several church state separation and science education groups filed a lawsuit against the district.
1:02.8	And on December 20th, 2005,
1:05.4	a judge ruled that teaching intelligent design
1:08.2	was indeed unconstitutional.
1:10.2	It wasn't science and it didn't belong in a science class.
1:13.0	It was a major decision that effectively shut down the intelligent design movement.
1:18.0	And the lead expert witness for the science side in that case was Dr. Ken Miller. If you took high school
1:24.8	biology there's a good chance Dr Miller wrote your textbook. He's also the author
1:28.9	of Finding Darwin's God and Only a Theory and he's a professor at Brown University.
