Hello and welcome to Raising Good Humans. I'm Dr. Lise of Pressman and I'm here with Emily

Oster. Professor Emily Oster is an economist and best-selling author and she's been on the

podcast before this time. I'm having her on the podcast because she's one of the only

researchers looking at what's happening with health outcomes for kids going back to school,

vaccines and I'm really looking at it as a health economist. So with all of the information,

misinformation that's out there, she's clarifying what we know from data, from her data and other

data about going back to schools, transmission rates, vaccines, vaccine accessibility,

what next fall might look like, all in the context of, of course, uncertainty, but with a real head

for science, so I really appreciate it. She is a TED talker, she is the author of two books

expecting better and crib sheet that discuss a data-driven approach to decision-making

and pregnancy and parenting and now that data-driven approach has become a really important voice

in making choices related to this pandemic. She's been one of the strongest advocates of

opening schools during this epidemic. She spearheaded a project to collect data on the spread of

COVID-19 in schools and I really enjoy hearing from Emily because it feels like a real

voice of reason with all of the influence of a mom who just really wants to make good decisions,

the best decisions possible, that is very comforting and so I asked her on today because we've
