Summary
Mountain town lady, Victoria Jarosh, better known as Tori, found herself at a Buddhist monastery in 2021. Tori is a busy-body and adventurer, so the art of doing nothing at the temple came difficult.
This is when she realized that if she succeeds in doing NOTHING during her 5 days there, it is still an accomplishment because it was accompanied with challenge. Tori believes that celebrating successes we encounter in everyday life is important. This could range from running 240 miles to fixing your bike on your own. So, she started the narrative style podcast series called No Handlebars: Stories of Everyday Success for a Better Life.

| 0:00.0 | Hey folks, welcome to the adventure sports podcast. My name is Mason. Today's episode, we are talking to Tori Yerch, who it's kind of cool. Tori is a connection |
| 0:25.0 | from Kurt Linville, the previous host of this show, one of the previous hosts. And Kurt met |
| 0:31.8 | Tori and connected Tori with me. And she just had a really interesting story to tell about an adventure she took that was |
| 0:40.0 | very different than a lot of ventures we talk about obviously we we talk about you know |
| 0:44.6 | and tory's done a lot of you know standard adventures I guess you would say but this one was |
| 0:48.9 | really unique that it was a retreat of silence and what was so cool is how different that is than what we ever talk about. |
| 0:58.2 | Literally, you know, if you're talking about silence, you're obviously not participating in silence because you're talking. |
| 1:04.8 | Which was really funny. |
| 1:06.4 | We talked about that because one of the biggest revelations for Tori from this retreat of silence |
| 1:11.4 | was that she wanted to start a podcast, which is the opposite of being silent. And so we get |
| 1:18.2 | in and all that, but it was so cool because, you know, our lives are so busy. I don't know about |
| 1:22.9 | you, but there's just constant noise, constant communication, constant, everything. And to be able to take away, |
| 1:31.6 | strip away all noise, all interaction, just have even a few days of silence is maybe a sensation |
| 1:39.3 | a lot of us have never experienced. I know on an adventure, you can oftentimes get moments in days even of |
| 1:46.3 | silence when you're out there alone on maybe a solo trip, you're out in the wilderness, especially. |
| 1:52.2 | But outside of that, honestly, I don't have a lot of times where I'm completely silent and |
| 1:57.2 | voluntarily. So this was really interesting. She learned a lot and I think you can learn a lot. |
| 2:02.0 | She's really entertaining. And of course, go check out her show, her podcast called No Handelbars. |
| 2:07.5 | You can find it anywhere you get podcasts and it's obviously going to be linked right here in the show |
| 2:11.9 | notes. So without further ado, let's go ahead and jump in. |
| 2:20.9 | All right, folks, welcome to the Adventure Sports Podcast today. |
| 2:24.4 | Interesting story. |
