And I have a slightly different take on Romans 1 than I think most people do.

And again, my theological perspective and biases come from a couple different sources, okay?

One of them is I really try and understand ancient Jewish culture.

I feel like that's really important to interpreting scripture correctly and the implication of that

is that our interpretations that are popular in our culture today among Christians really come from a tradition that is

highly influenced by Greek thought and Greek influence, right?

And if you know the history of the early church

and of that region, you know Jewish culture is is different but what started to happen is in the first

century the gospel started to explode amongst Gentiles and so you have all these

Gentiles who, you know, come from a Greek culture, a Hellenistic

culture and they worshipped the Greek gods, right, in the Roman Empire, they worship the same gods, they had different names for them.

Roman culture drew heavily from Greek culture.

And Greek culture was very influenced by philosophers, right, like Plato and Aristotle and Socrates,

and a lot of that influence kind of mixed with the Jewish culture of the Bible and that's

how we get a lot of our understanding today and that's because a lot of the Jewish culture was despised really.

Jews were really vilified in the early church, right?
