Summary

Dating as a “good church girl” can come with a lot of rules, expectations, and teachings that shape how we approach relationships. In this episode, the Aunties sit down with special guest Torah Cents to unpack what many Christian women were taught about dating, men, and relationships and what might need to be unlearned.

From purity culture and church messaging to real-life dating experiences, we explore the misconceptions that can keep women stuck, confused, or settling for less than they deserve. We talk about the difference between wisdom and fear-based dating advice, the importance of self-awareness, and how women of faith can approach dating in a healthier, more empowered way.

If you’ve ever felt like your dating life has been shaped by teachings that didn’t fully prepare you for real relationships, this conversation is for you. Join us as we discuss how to break old patterns, embrace new perspectives, and start dating with clarity, confidence, and intention.

Listen, we are going through some things as women. Okay. We've been through some stuff. We're trying to see our way out for some of us. We're still searching for love. Some of us are in the thick of love. Okay. And for the rest of the world, we're going through some things as women. Okay. We've been through some stuff. We're trying to see our way out for some of us. We're still searching for love. Some of us are in the thick of love, okay? And for everybody who's in between that, this episode is for you, okay? This episode is for you. We're so excited to have our guest on, okay? This woman is incredible, her words are awesome. Matter of fact, let me stop talking. Let me let me take it away. I mean, I was gonna layer take it away. But we are so excited to have dating coach extraordinaire for a sense with us today. Hey, Tore girl. Hello ladies. Thank you for having me. Yeah, this is gonna be so, so good. But before we jump into the content, I just wanted to give you an opportunity to tell our audience a little bit about yourself. In case they don't know who you are and you know what your credentials are because you've been doing the things for a long time. I was just telling her I've been following for a long time. She helped me out. So I'm excited to get into it. But before that, just tell us a little bit about you. Yes, so I go by Torasense, and I am a dating coach that specifically helps high achieving unchurched women of faith. And when I mean unchurched, I mean not women who have faith, have deconstructed a lot of their religion and have decided to unsubscribe from a lot of misogynistic or repressive, oppressive things that aren't in alignment with God, but like that come along with the religious traditions. And I help these ladies build rosters of men who serve and support them, who provide, protect and pursue for serious commitment, whether they want just a regular relationship or whether they want a marriage. And so yeah, that's pretty much what I did.

2:08.6

That's good.

2:09.4

I know I can take several notes.

2:12.5

Yeah.

2:15.6

So with that being said, you're passionate about this.

2:19.6

Like you want to see the women of faith.

2:21.0

How did that happen?

2:22.0

Like how did you start this?

2:24.6

It actually happened by accident. It's not something that I strive to do or say, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh just started posting content on YouTube, Facebook. I posted content and certain videos started going viral. I started making World Star hip hop, it was going viral on Facebook, there were some popular videos on YouTube. But the main stuff that started going viral and popular were anything talking about romance or love or those types of things. And so I talked about dating when I was dating before I even chose my husband. I got into that. And every time a video will go viral about romantic relationships people would say because I had a video that called that was called I don't want to boyfriend. It was all about having a roster and being single until some man wanted to propose to me and make me his wife versus like just getting a boyfriend and putting on my eggs in his basket. And I had a video that went viral that called it had like 10 million views and like just a couple of weeks. It was called Why Didn't Marry for Love.

3:45.8

And that took off dramatically of me explaining to people

3:50.2

like, yeah, if I choose a man, like I've loved many men.

3:53.9

But if I choose a man, it's not going

3:56.0

to be on the basis of love.

3:57.8

It's always going to be the basis of like,

4:00.2

are we going to build together in a partnership?

4:04.2

The love should be there, but that's how we're going to do things. And when that video went viral, lots of people were reaching out. In terms of relationships, I was like, I don't want to do that. Because I see that there, Jackson guy, everywhere, on social media going viral. And I don't like nothing he's saying. And I don't like how the girls are being exploited by him Like he was going crazy back then. And I don't want to be known as someone who exploits women, especially black women. So I don't want to participate in any of this. Let's just talk about getting you together. Cap doing that for a while and until I had an intern. She was 29 years old, never been kissed before, never had a boyfriend in her life. And she was an intern for me and I was like, what do you want? What's happening here? What's going on? I know you want a relationship. She was like, yeah, I'm waiting on God. God's gonna say my husband, I was like, not working for me. You know, I was like, if you want marriage,

5:05.3

let's help you get it. I said, just listen to everything I'll tell you to do. I'll help you

5:08.7

free. Just do everything I'll tell you to do and you can be engaged by the end of the year. And she was. She was, she did everything I had her do in terms of dating, in terms of learning how to connect with men in terms of showing men how to show up for you, how to be pursued.

5:28.3

He was engaged and I flew showing men how to show up for you,

5:26.4

how to be pursued.

5:28.2

He was engaged and I flew down and went to the wedding.
