I've been glad over this past year and really the past few years to not have to talk so much about Donald Trump.

I've always tried hard to make sure that this was not a Trump podcast.

There are plenty of Trump podcasts out there and there are more important things to talk about on most days.

But yesterday something unprecedented but not shocking happened.

A civil jury found that Donald Trump, the previous president of the United States, was civilly liable for sexually abusing a woman and defaming her after the fact.

It's a disgusting thing and yet I don't know that I saw or heard a single surprised person.

Of course a jury found him civilly responsible liable and as the jury convicted him it's a civil case.

But a jury found that the preponderance of evidence pointed to the fact that he actually sexually assaulted a woman.

And I don't think it will affect his poll numbers whatsoever.

Let me unpack and explain it.

I'm a free man and so I can say what I want but you know often you can't say what you want because you're afraid you'll be fired.

You're afraid your boss will call you to the office.

You're afraid you're afraid you'll lose your job.

You're afraid you'll lose your position or privilege.

I don't have any of that and I have to say that day after day after day this country discussed me and people said well why don't you move?

That's not that easy.

There are beautiful things about this place.

I love so many people in this country and there are leaders fighting for good and fighting for change that I love and respect but there's so much that is deeply disturbing and troubling about this place.

We talked about the horrible mass shooting.

We could have talked about any horrible mass shooting.
