Summary

A girl strikes back! This week’s episode was relatively bloodless, but Darren makes a case for “No One” being the show’s best episode in years. James and Darren talk parkour Arya’s showdown with the Terma-Waif, Jaime’s tense workplace romance reunion with Brienne, Tommen’s cowardly betrayal of Cersei, and all the fan theories this episode ruined. Welcome to EW's Game of Thrones weekly podcast.

0:06.4

I'm James Hibbert here along with Darren Franich.

0:08.9

We're talking no one where we got ARIA's big showdown with the waif.

0:13.5

I know some of you are upset about how that went down and we're going to talk about that.

0:17.0

Along with the fan theories that totally went bust, Jamie's repressed-a-longing reunion with Brian and Tommon's betrayal of his own mom.

0:26.8

He's just the worst son ever.

0:28.9

Darren, what are your initial thoughts?

0:30.9

James, my initial thoughts about no one is that this is like my favorite episode of Game of Thrones in two or three years.

0:40.9

I was so taken with it right from the beginning,

0:47.5

which started with a long sequence of Lady Crane performing as Circe.

0:49.5

As I think I said on this show before,

0:55.0

I'd be totally down if Game of Thrones just became all about this sort of community theater recreation of scenes from earlier seasons.

0:58.3

I just loved it.

0:59.3

I mean, I really felt like just the feel of this episode.

1:03.7

Somehow we were really able to spend a lot of time with these characters in a way that we

1:08.4

don't often get to do now that the show is so spread out.

1:13.0

And I guess I kind of want to start with the ARIA sequence because, you know, I think I've

1:18.8

been on the record as saying I'd be very happy if this entire subplot were to perish in a gigantic

1:25.4

supernova of wildfire.

1:28.8

But I just found, you know, Aria's sequence with Lady Crane,

1:32.4

I just thought that that was a character who immediately felt so real and so vivid

1:36.7

and, like, she had a whole life of her own.
